I once had a conversation with a teen who told me he/she doesn’t know how to say “No”

He just discovered that he does things as dictated by peers without questioning and later on feel bad about some of those actions because he doesn’t want to be identified with them.

Are you aware that people who are predominantly phlegmatic are people’s pleasers?

They hardly get into trouble except the ones that was orchestrated by peers, they love peace and don’t want to hurt people.

So they go out of their way to satisfy others which might not be in their best interest all the time.

Do you know your child’s temperament so you know what exactly to teach?

Besides the temperament aspect, some parents hardly give their teenagers opportunity to air their view even on matters that directly affects them....

You run your home as in the military, to every instruction is “aye aye sir!” 

No question, no objection!

As little as allowing your little ones to choose what to wear or reason with them why certain cloths aren’t appropriate for certain occasions, will help build skills on decision making but all you do is you must wear this because I say so! Final!

Hmm, the world people will romance your child, speak his language, connect with him, ask him what he knows(which by now is next to nothing because you don’t have time for talks, always dishing out instructions) then they brainwash him with their ideology with so much articulation and expertise that even the devil himself will salute them!

What are you going to start doing differently going forward?

Know that you are not raising your child for the four walls of your home, don’t raise a dummy who will dance to the tune of every Tom Duck and Harry, it isn’t fair.
