Stop the comparison(part 1)

#Stop the comparisons! I once met a teen who cries to school every morning because her mum wouldn’t stop comparing her to the girl next door...... “To my mum, the girl is perfect....every time she use to compare me with that girl and I hate it......even now, I’m beginning to hate the girl too..” How would you feel if your child ask why you aren’t you the Director General of WTO like Okonjo Iweala? Comparing your child to another will make you oblivious to his/her uniqueness, strength......all you would see are his/her weaknesses. Trust me, no one loved to be compared to another, especially in their area of inadequacies. Whatever you want your child to know or do, teach intentionally.....everything is learnt. He is having difficulty in a subject, have conversation with him, brainstorm on how to help him and provide support all the way.... Be your child number one cheer leader and not be the reason they are sad all the time. It’s a new week, you can start afresh with your children no matter the level you are in... Retrace your steps, unlearn, learn and relearn as the case may be.... Remember a time is coming when they will be on their own and you would be all alone with your spouse again.... Cherish this moment and make the best of it....intentionally create memories that last.
