Parents be at alert

Parents, be at alert!

Last term, it was the notorious "soapy" dance!

Now it's, "we are marlians!"

So few days after resumption, my daughter asked me what "marlians" meant.

"Some boys in my class has been saying it since Monday....what does it mean?"

Alright....for those who doesn't know, as a citizen of Nigeria, you are a Nigerian, right?

So as a fan of N. Marly, you are a Marlian!

End of story!

Please note, I am not being judgemental and I also understand that we all have our preferences, which is based on our beliefs and value system.... but I think children should be shielded from some things.....this also depend on family values!

And to think that I saw a bill board where the said guy is conspicuously displayed for an advert makes it more confusing about the type of society we are in, honestly, I don't understand....

Again I say, I am not being judgemental.... What do I know!

It is obvious there is no alignment in the value system of family to family, and the society at large!

I saw a video where an elderly popular artist danced "soapy", no big deal right!

Know who your children's friends and their parents are!

Whether we like it or not, children will be influenced to a great extent by their friends and peers!

It is good and better if they choose friends who share the same values with them.

Don't expect them to know these values without modelling and deliberate teaching from you!

Charity begins at home!

The world is evolving daily and the devil isn't resting!

This reminds of the words of Barrister Taiwo Akinlami:

"There will never be a time in today's world where caregivers will be abreast of all the dangers our precious children will be exposed to, it is the preparation we make that will make all the difference"

How are you preparing your children for the world out there?

Trust me, it isn't business as usual!

It is "soapy", "marlians".....etc now, you never can tell what it will be tomorrow!

Be intentional!
