Understanding Your Struggles. (Part 1.)
It is obvious that the challenges teens go through in the 21st century is enormous and different from what we have in the time past, though, there are some similarities, social media has amplified, modified and brought it closer!
Back then, porn wasn't one of the major issues for teenagers....even if such thought crossed your mind, it would take a while before you could prepare, plan the "event" and then pray you don't get caught in the act!
By the time you figure out how to go rent a blue film from vendors, wait till you are alone at home before you could watch, the thought would have disappeared!
....but today, it's right there on your face...bill boards, realities shows, movies, porn sites..and so on,
....with just a click, you have the world at your palm!
We live in the era of Post-truth, that is, fact is no longer relevant, as long as it is popular and appeal to people's emotions, it is okay!
We now have concepts like transgender, transable, transspecie....all sorts of trans nonsense!
Yahoo yahoo, yahoo plus....internet fraud!
Too many things calling for your attention, taking advantage of your curiosity, adventurous and vulnerable state!
We live in a society where people celebrate "things" more than "beings"!
"As long as you have money, anything goes!"
Gone were the days when it was prisoners who unavoidably sag their trousers because they didn't have access to belts..
Today, it is no longer so....all the people you see as role models sag their trousers..... and it is cool!
Ladies doesn't have to be porn stars before the privates parts are generously exposed....they are celebrities, free world!
Students got laughable awards for winning intellectual competitions while those who go naked, engage in immoralities...to the viewing pleasure of the public, go home with mouth watering amount of money with lots of endorsement from big companies, yet your parents want you to read your books instead of watching reality show or telemundos.
It. Is. Difficult.
I know!
The labours of our past heroes have been trampled upon by today's leaders,...
People who should uphold the rule of law are the very ones jeopardizing it!
The level of moral decadence is worrisome!
Less I forget, our religious leaders aren't left out!
The same man who preaches on the pulpit is the same who took pleasure in violating children, then threatened fire and brimstone if the victim dare speak out!
The concept of "A man of God!" is confusing to you!
...even when you here "God", you have mixed feelings!
How could He(God) stay up there and allowed all the evil penetrated against children, His own children o!
You often pondered!
I know of a teen whose abuser speaks in tongue (the same way he does in church) whenever he was sexually abusing her!
How could God allow you go through abuse with the one who is supposed to provide love, care and protection,....maybe uncles, aunts, cousins, family friends, religions leaders, teachers or even parents!
It could be confusing and frustrating at the same time!
This is not to mention high expectations from your parents,
Peer pressure,....
..or the lost of a loved one, family properties, changing your status and reality 360° within seconds!
....and lots more..
All these challenges are real and valid!
No one should tell you because you are a teen, you don't have worries!
But you see, like I told you before, whatever the challenges you are passing through isn't peculiar to you!
...and at every stages of life, you will always face challenges...
To every human alive, challenges/temptations are part of life.
What you do and how you respond to challenges you face will either make or mar you!
Many have gone through it, are going through it and some will still go through those struggles.
"Grow through what you go through, don't groan through it!" - Mike Oladipo.
The first thing I would love you to pick from your challenges is that you should know "it will come to pass and not come to stay!"
Then what are the lessons inherent in the challenges you need to pick?
I have seen people who have it rough as children, teens and they come out victorious!
(....to be continued)
With lots of love,
Aunty Hellen.
