"How I was almost abused sexually by my cousin and my parent had no idea!"
There are two memorable but not pleasant events in my life I will never forget; the first happened when I was about 5 years old.
It happened when I was naive and ignorant about my sexuality, with just a tiny bit of chance and ultimately God's mercy, I escaped!

My cousin who was about 7years old at the time came to spend some times with us during the holiday, typical to children, my younger brother and I were excited at the thought of having another play mate.
I shared a bed with my 2 years old brother, the new member of the family; my cousin, became the third person.
On a couple of nights after his arrival, l would feel a hand trying to creep under my cloths, a feeling of a heavy object on me, noticed unusual movement around me, I would wake up, half-heartedly, non compos mentis, muttered incoherent, inaudible words and attempted to stand up!
As soon as he realises am aware, my cousin would swiftly rolled to his own side of the bed feign deep sleep with fake snoring!
I would then concluded that it was a bad dream, and then go back to sleep.
The "bad dream" continued for a couple of other nights with the same drama ensuing, but in the morning, all that will be left of the previous night event was a vague memory.
It was a puzzle I had no mental capacity to unravel at the time, so I couldn't share with anyone.
How would I have explained it?
He made another attempt one afternoon.
My parent had gone out and my brother was outside playing.
I laid on the bed half asleep while he came as usual, I stood up almost immediately and screamed at him,
"What have I done? "
"Why are you beating me?"
"Is this your pant?" I asked, raising my dress to show him my pant!
As far as I was concerned, he was pulling my pants because he thought it was his!
.....oh my...!
As God would have it, he was unsuccessful in his mission before his two weeks stay was over and his mum came for him.
After he left, there was no more "bad dream"!
Even at that,I didn't realise, until years later, that I was close to being violated by another child!
My cousin too would have been either a victim of abuse or exposed to adult content.

The report on Violence Against Children in Nigeria, 2014, which was launched in 2015 gave a gory summary of the state of the Nigerian child :
"One in four boys and one in ten girls experience sexual violence before the age of 18 years!"
The statistics has gone higher trust me!
Predators are everywhere!
It doesn't exclude family members!
Siblings practices Incest!
More boys now rape more boys which is called "fuckarama" in most boarding houses!
Parents, wake up!
You cannot be caught napping!
What price are you willing to pay for your child's sanity?
One touch of a predator can mess up the education and future of a child if there is no intervention!
Prevention, they say is better and cheaper than cure!
Remember the predator thrives on the innocence and ignorance of the child!
The holiday is here again and our children would be spending more time with neighbours, families and others,especially working mums and dads, empower your child to disempower the predator!
